One year ago, today, I said goodbye to New York City, and boarded a Los Angeles bound plane, with my most precious belongings, and my two cats—Bella & Luna. New York was my dream, and I loved her, but I knew in my heart of hearts that after nearly 6 years there, it was time to leave.
LA has been a whirlwind adventure, full of new friends, new experiences, a more relaxed lifestyle, and a rekindling of my spirit. Overall, I feel this move has been positive for my well being. I feel more balanced, grounded, and I’ve been able to connect with and appreciate the landscape —sunshine, palm trees, desert, beaches, mountains, redwoods. California is truly beautiful.
I’m working full time, in a challenging position in my field, and I am performing part time, maintaining both careers, as I did in NY, but the hustle and pressure is much less intense.
I want to express gratitude to my sister, @mandypavia and my brother in law, @jeremypavia for helping me out when I got here and for taking me on adventures to see different parts of California. It’s comforting to know I have family here.
Gratitude to every new, beautiful person who has come into my life over this past year, for welcoming me to LA and making it feel like home. I’d also like to thank my solid, incredible friends in NY who supported my decision to move. I am always with you. You know who you are.
I’d like to encourage people to take a risk. If you feel stagnant or unhappy, there is room for exploration in your life. Most people remain complacent, out of fear of change. We only get this one life—do what you need to do, to be happy in it.
Happy 1 year anniversary, Los Angeles.💗
