Thecosomata или же, так называемая, "морская бабочка" была обнаружена сравнительно недавно и, по мнению многих ученых, заслуженно возглавляет список самых удивительных и необычных существ океанских глубин. Помимо весьма нестандартного внешнего вида, эти создания могут поразить и столь же нестандартыми "талантами", одним из которых является повышенная чувствительность животного к изменениям, происходящим в родной стихии. Ученые используют этих существ словно индикаторы состояния воды, чьи раковины скручиваются, твердеют или же вовсе исчезают в зависимости от благоприятных или же напротив условий. Раковины морских бабочек выглядят очень схоже с раковиной улитки, хотя в них абсолютно отсутсвует известковая составляющая; это и позволяет этим созданиям изменять форму в толще морских вод. Их раковины всегда симметричны, а само создание очень хрупко. Но не смотря на это они ведут активный образ жизни и могут подстроиться почти под любые изменения климата морской воды. Для охоты на планктон морские бабочки зачастую отращивают себе своеобразные усики - параподии. Скопления этих существ можно повстречать в ареоле восточного побережья Австралии.
